Recherche translationnelle en santé,
technologie pour la santé et recherche clinique
ToNIC is one of the founding members of the IRON Laboratory of Excellence (Labex).
The IRON Labex, “Innovative Radiopharmaceuticals in Oncology and Neurology,” has the scientific objective of developing innovative radiopharmaceuticals and their clinical translation for molecular imaging diagnostics (PET: positron emission tomography) in neurology and oncology, and for cancer therapy using molecular radiotherapy.
These radiopharmaceuticals will contribute to the development of personalized medicine, making it possible to direct patients toward appropriate targeted therapies or to treat tumors refractory to conventional treatments. To achieve this goal, the IRON Labex, coordinated by Professor Françoise Kraeber-Bodéré (Nantes University Hospital/ICO René Gauducheau), relies on:
• an ambitious scientific program,
• teams with complementary skills, from the production of innovative radionuclides to clinical research, located in Angers, Caen, Orléans, Nantes, Rennes, Strasbourg, Toulouse, and Tours,
• a network of cyclotrons capable of producing fluorine-18 (Caen, Tours, Toulouse), as well as innovative radionuclides for diagnostic applications.
